Columbus isn't just a great city in which to live, it's also the home of so many great bands and artists, So to celebrate the fake, but important, holiday known as 614 Day, we put together a little playlist that features some of our favorite songs from Columbus' own. By no means an exhaustive list, the playlist features tracks from newer acts like RADATTACK, The Cordial Sins, Effee, Booty&theKidd, and Souther, as well as more venerable bands like Watershed, New Bomb Turks, Red Wanting Blue, and Saving Jane.

Check out our playlist below, and let us know what your favorite music to come out of the Capital City is!

Out today is "Sick of the Hype," the latest single from Columbus band, The Cordial Sins. Just a week before it's release, we were able to preview this intense, driving, new song, and then chat with frontwoman Liz Fisher (lead vocals/guitar/keys) and Corey Dickerson (lead guitar/vocals) about the making of this single, the response to last year's EP Only Human, and what the future holds for The Cordial Sins. Turn up your speakers, listen to the song, and then check out our conversation below:

Sean O’Connor, Listen LIVE Columbus: It's good to see you guys! The last time we officially talked was last October, before the Only Human EP release. So, that's been out in the world now for over six mon...

Columbus band, Small Movies, released their debut album, One, online back in August, but have now achieved what so many musicians long for, a vinyl pressing. To celebrate the physical release, the band threw a vinyl release show at Rumba Cafe, smartly slotting their own set between two great fellow Columbus bands, The Receiver and The Cordial Sins. From the absolutely packed crowd present at Rumba, it was clear that while Small Movies is still a relatively new venture for Justin Roth (Electric Piano/Synthesizer), Donnie Mossman (Bass), Adam Cummins (Drums), and Parker Louis (Vocals), they are quickly gaining the notice of music fans in Columbus.

Small Movies’ sound is grungy alternative rock,...

Where do you find new music? Maybe on the radio, certainly online through Spotify, Soundcloud, or blogs, at a concert where a band you weren't very familiar with just blows you away, or maybe one of your all-time favorite acts finally drops something new and you fall in love with them all over again. Whatever the source, great new music has a way of exciting us, helping us get through the day, and eventually becoming part of the soundtrack of our day, week, month, year, and maybe eventually our whole lives.

Over the last couple of years, I've made it a priority to seek out new music from anywhere I can find it, and then keeping track of my favorites each quarter, my only requirement bei...

The Cordial Sins officially pushed their newest EP, Only Human, out into the world, marking the release with a killer show at Ace of Cups. With a bye week for the home football team, Halloween right around the corner, a specially brewed Modern Martyrs IPA from Lineage on tap, a fantastic lighting production worthy of a much bigger venue, and two great opening acts in Cherry Chrome and Playing To Vapors, the mood of the entire evening was celebratory.

And the celebration was more than justified. Since The Cordial Sins released their best single to date, “Go On” in late 2016, fans had been eagerly awaiting the Sins follow-up to the 2015 debut album, Daze. The wait was definitely worth it, as ...

Columbus band, The Cordial Sins, are getting ready to release their EP, Only Human, on Saturday, October 21st. They’ll be celebrating the release with a show that night at Ace of Cups, where they will be performing along with fellow Columbus bands Cherry Chrome and Playing To Vapors. Ahead of the release, I was able to preview the entire seven song EP, and then chat with frontwoman Liz Fisher (vocals/keys/violin/guitar) and Corey Dickerson (lead guitar/vocals).

Sean O’Connor (Listen LIVE Columbus): OK, so, let's start with the new EP, Only Human, which is coming out on October 21st. How would you guys talk about your sound now on this new EP vs. your first album, Daze? Because I feel like it'...

The last time Wolf Alice was in Columbus, they debuted a brand new song, “Yuk Foo,” one of the band’s hardest rocking tunes to date. A little over a year later, the UK quartet was back, treating the sold-out crowd at The Basement to more than a few new songs from their forthcoming sophomore album, Visions Of A Life, which is set to be released on September 29.

This was the first ever CD102.5 “Trust Us” Series show, where the headliner was not

revealed until the show sold out. Those fans who bought tickets were greatly rewarded, and if you didn’t trust CD102.5 then you missed one of the absolute best shows of the year.

The band opened their set with a new track, “Don’t Delete the Kisses,” which...

The Greeting Committee clearly feel right at home in Columbus, and rocked The Basement like it was a hometown show of a band that had been away for too long. Although they hail from Kansas City, thanks to the support from CD102.5 and the fans here in the Capital City, the band declared several times throughout the night that Columbus has felt like their second home. This was the band’s third show in Columbus within the past year, having previously headlined at The Basement last July, and then playing the A&R Music Bar stage during last September’s CD102.5 Fall Fest.

The band started their set with “Naive,” off of 2017’s Meeting People Is Easy EP. Brandon Yangmi (guitar), Austin Fraser (drums)...

After touring in support of their Danger Mouse produced EP, Turning Into Water, since it’s release last April, Maybird gave the crowd a taste of some new music last night at the Big Room Bar. The band is planning to release a new EP this June, this time around with songs produced by Patrick Carney of the Black Keys. Maybird’s brand of psychedelic-tinged rock just seems to wash over the listener, swirling around the room, pulling you in, and making you hope that each song never ends - the perfect sound for a Sunday night show, bringing the weekend to a close

From the aforementioned new EP, Maybird previewed three tracks, “Bluebird Flew Away,” “Grace,” and “Keep in Line.” The latter is the firs...
